After last summer's tour through South Tirol was praised by all who participated as a successful offering for those interested in musical and cultural activities, two additional cultural tours will be offered with the Munich Bach Choir this year. The first tour travels through Frankonia and includes a concert by the Munich Bach Choir in Amorbach. In June, the second tour, destined for Waldsassen, will tour through Bohemia, Saxony and Upper Palatinate. |

June 13-15, 2010: Cultural tour through Bohemia, Saxony and Upper Palatinate On June 13, 2010, the Munich Bach Choir will perform the six motets from Johann Sebastian Bach under the direction of Hansjörg Albrecht, who will also play additional works from Bach on the organ. This concert provides the opportunity for a cultural tour through Bohemia and Saxony, with a focus on art history, history and organ building. On Sunday, June 13, 2010, a comfortable touring coach will travel from Munich to Waldsassen, with an initial visit to the cloister and its famous Stiftsbibliotek. In the afternoon, you can take part in the Bach Chor's staging rehearsal in the basilica, in which Hansjörg Albrecht will also perform on the organ. On Monday morning, the tour continues to Eger, with a scenic walk through the historic old town and a visit to the city church of St. Nikolas. Only 34 kilometers further is the historical health resort of the once chic Marienbad. Afterwards, a trip to the nearby town of Tepl is planned, with a visit to the Prämonstratenserstift of 1193-1659 and its Anton Gartner organ (1756/1891). Later in the afternoon, the tour arrives at Annaberg-Buchholz, where Hansjörg Albrecht will play works of Max Reger and Robert Schumann on the Walcker organ of 1884. After spending the night in the four-star hotel Wilder Mann, the Erzgebirge Museum with the Silberberg work from the 16th century is next on the agenda. Then, the tour continues to Schneeberg, to hear an organ recital by Hansjörg Albrecht in St. Wolfgang. Then on to Zwickau, where Robert Schumann was born 200 years ago. The Schumann house is definitely worth a visit before Hansjörg Albrecht presents organ works of Schumann and Walter Braunfels. The last stop on the return trip is Weiden in the Upper Palatinate, where the most recent organ of the tour can be heard - the Weimbs organ of 2007.
